Package in RTF version Eachine Novice 3

Eachine’s Fly-More package also includes four additional drone batteries, increasing effective flight time to just under an hour. The Fly-More package costs around 25 euros.

Therefore, we also recommend the Fly-More package to anyone thinking about buying this drone. Because a flight time of 15-20 minutes with two batteries in a Ready-To-Fly (RTF) package is not very satisfying.

Delivery set for Fly-More Eachine Novice 3

However, due to its design, the mini FPV drone does not have heavier batteries. However, according to the manufacturer, you can use any battery with a suitable connector (XT30). However, we recommend that you pay special attention to the weight of the battery, otherwise the flight stability of the aircraft will suffer.

Overall this is a very good package, but we do not advise beginner pilots to buy this drone. Unless you’re specifically interested in FPV.

Because flying exclusively in FPV mode requires some practice and experience with drones. FPV goggles are not a top model, but useful. This drone is well worth a look, especially for experienced pilots looking to try out FPV.

FPV Goggles & Remote Control Eachine Novice III

Since this is an FPV racing model, FPV goggles play an important role in our test. FPV goggles are a reliable model that have also proven themselves with other drones.

However, the screen resolution is a bit low – 800 * 480, and the picture does not look very good during FPV flight. It doesn’t matter, however, because this is not a camera drone that is supposed to take particularly great pictures.

You can also save recordings using the SD card in the glasses. The quality of the saved recordings is 1280 * 720. The bitrate of these recordings is also higher, which means that the saved recordings are of significantly higher quality than FPV flying on goggles.

However, the camera should not be in focus. We think it’s good that Eachine chose a slightly larger f / 2.1 lens. So the shots look a little overexposed, but flying in low light is not a problem either.

The Eachine Novice III will only fail at night because this model does not have an LED headlight and this is prohibited in the USA anyway.

The glasses connect to the drone via WiFi connection at 5.8 GHz. The controller offers a choice of 40 channels, with one of the channels automatically selected in the factory settings.

Also included is a WLAN antenna. The antenna is attached to the glasses. For this, an SMA sleeve is installed, and the antenna can simply be screwed in.

The FPV goggles also have a 2000mAh internal battery. This makes it possible to control the glasses and control the drone for about an hour.

The FPV goggles display backlight is very good. Even in the daytime in the sun, the glasses work well, and everything is clearly visible.

Drone flight behavior in the test

Once we get the drone up and running, this means that all the batteries are fully charged and the drone is also connected to the remote controller and FPV goggles, we can begin our hands-on test.

The drone does not have a GPS system on board. This is why we need to be especially careful where we are. Because there is no return home function due to the lack of a GPS module.

During takeoff, it is noticeable that the drone is surprisingly quiet, even if the buzzing of the propellers is quite large due to its small size. The manufacturer achieves this with brushless motors.

Take control of the Eachine 3 rookie

The drone stands very well in the air, even without automatic balancing, the flight behavior is convincing.

Of course, the drone doesn’t fly as steadily as the DJI Mavic Mini, but that’s also not a requirement for a racing drone. Next, let’s see what the model is capable of.

The drone is very easy to fly and, as I said, stability is given. After a short acclimatization, we do one or two maneuvers and do somersaults in the air.

Advanced pilots who are interested in FPV flying are sure to pay off here.

Turbulence during flight can only occur in strong winds. It should also be noted that the Eachine Mini-FPV-Racing drone is not waterproof. The circuit board and control system are open and therefore exposed to even small amounts of water.

So you should only fly during the day and in dry weather. In our test, the drone’s top speed was just under 115 km / h.

It’s also a good value for money for a racing drone. Of course, this cannot be compared to the top models. In tournaments, drones reach speeds of 180 km / h or more.

Racing drone battery and range

As mentioned, the battery is a 450mAh Li-ion battery with a range of 1000 meters. In particular, with FPV models, it should be noted that in the USA you are only allowed to fly within line of sight.

But with FPV models wearing goggles, you quickly miss it and go out of sight. In addition, there must always be a second person on site as required by German law.

The battery lasts for a flight of eight to ten minutes. That’s a solid figure for a 450mAh battery. Eachine’s Fly-More-Combo package also includes four additional batteries for a small surcharge.

Any battery with XT30 connection can also be used on the drone. It should be noted, however, that the drone is not overwhelmed as the large battery is also heavy.

With a battery, the drone weighs only 110 grams.

Overall, the Eachine Novice III drone is a very good choice for experienced pilots looking to get into an area of FPV racing worth taking a look at.

The drone is also worth looking at for b
eginners. However, we recommend that absolute beginners do not mess with an FPV racing drone, but first learn to fly with a regular drone. For example, Maginon’s Aldi drone is very suitable.
