Racing drones are becoming more and more famous and popular in the USA. They have been fashionable in America for years. Airspeed, rough acceleration, and extreme maneuvers have their own charm.

The model we would like to present to you today belongs to the racing sector and is often bought.

The Eachine Wizard X220S FPV drone has many features not found in other racing quadcopters. We especially love the opportunity to buy this model in the “Ready To Fly” version.

In our opinion, this drone is especially suitable as an entry-level model. Despite its flight class, the aircraft remains fairly small. Eachine has brought to the market a great affordable drone that has FPV functionality.

In this review, you will find out what the Eachine Wizart X220S is capable of, what features to look out for, and what advantages and disadvantages it has.

Technical details

The flight performance was very positive to us due to the technical characteristics of this aircraft.

Of course, racing drones usually don’t have a stabilization system, but unfortunately this is also the case here. You will need a little practice to learn this, but then you can do the most spectacular maneuvers. Thanks to the light weight, ideal dimensions and ergonomics of the propeller, you can achieve very high acceleration and speed values with this model. Thus, even if you are a beginner, you will have a very good chance to participate in drone racing if you choose the Eachine Wizard X220S quadcopter.

Design

Anyone who has followed the drone racing market in the past few years will notice that the models are somehow getting smaller and smaller. This is mainly due to the fact that technologies are constantly being improved and developed. This means that smaller and smaller parts can be built into the electronics and downsized.

In the meantime, there are even frames with a size of only 180 mm. However, the Eachine Wizard X220S FPV quadcopter has a 220mm frame.

Noteworthy are the three-bladed propellers, which provide a more stable flight position of the quadcopter in the air, while the model does not lose speed. When flying, there is a distinct difference to many classic twin propeller drones.

Please note when purchasing that the optional top camera visible in the picture is not included in the package. Photos show the Runcam 3 but needs to be purchased separately.

Otherwise, there is not much to say in appearance, the drone looks very compact and makes a quality impression on us.

Battery and flight time

The battery is great for drone racing. This is a 1500mAh 4S 14.8V 75C flight battery.

As the name suggests, there are 4 very powerful battery cells. The battery life depends a lot on your flight behavior. It’s only a few minutes at full speed, but if you’re flying a little more calmly, you can stretch the maximum time you can spend in the air a little longer.

Advantages and disadvantages of a racing drone

Privileges:

  • Perfectly assembled and “Ready to fly”
  • Very suitable for beginners
  • The drone is made of extremely durable material and is very lightweight.
  • Perfect center of gravity for perfect control and flight
  • With the Eachine Wizard X220S FPV drone, you can perform particularly fast flight maneuvers.
  • The model develops very high speeds due to powerful electric motors.
  • Increased flight stability due to the three-blade propeller.
  • High quality long range remote control
  • The quadcopter is ideal for FPV flying

Disadvantage:

  • No built-in voltmeter for early landing on low battery
  • Motor mounts are not as strong – they should be replaced as early as possible and checked regularly.

Conclusion

In our opinion, this quadrocopter is definitely worth its money, the price / quality ratio is impressive. While there are a few disadvantages, you can think about them if you keep the benefits and low cost in mind.

Unfortunately, the operating instructions are only available in English, you should note this, but most of you won’t need a manual, and if you do, English won’t be a difficult obstacle for most people.

There is a slightly weaker version of the Eachine Wizard X220S FPV quadcopter, with only one 3S battery instead of 4S. Basically, a weaker drone is slightly better for beginners.

Unfortunately, FPV goggles are not included, but you can easily buy them and use them with the Eachine Wizard X220S drone, we have already tested several models.
