In this review, we’ll show you what we think are the best entry-level drones with cameras and reliable controls.
Of course, the price should not exceed your budget, especially for beginner drones. However, we do not recommend buying the cheapest drone. We tested many models and therefore chose the best aircraft for beginners. A quadcopter that meets your requirements as a beginner and has a very good price / performance ratio is the Hubsan H501S X4 drone, for example.
An overview of the best entry-level drones with cameras
Hubsan H501S X4
For around € 250, you get a great entry-level drone with many features that only much more expensive models often have. Since it has GPS, auto-position hold and 4 powerful brushless motors, it is very stable in the air and much easier to fly than other entry-level drones without GPS!
It also comes equipped with a Full HD camera with which you can create really great videos and photos.
The flight lasts about 20 minutes on a single battery charge, so you have plenty of time to fly and practice. Thus, the entry-level drone control has a greater learning effect.
The Hubsan H501S X4 features Follow Me, Return to Home and Headless Flight modes. Thanks to the high quality, many functions and the low price, the price / quality ratio is really very good!
- Extensive flight modes
- Long flight time
- GPS and vehicle location system
- Full HD camera
Our tip: The Hubsan H501S X4 has a lot to offer for its price. Newbies are usually looking for the cheapest drone with many features and stable flight. Therefore, it is ideal for a slow approach to flying with a drone.
Quadcopter Syma X5C (-1)
The Syma X5C (-1) quadcopter is incomparable with the Hubsan H501S X4, but it is still useful for beginners because it is not a mini drone and it has pretty good flight performance at a low price of only 50-70 euros. The drone has an HD camera, it can fly for about 8 minutes on a single battery charge, and it takes 60 minutes to charge. But you can also order multiple battery packs cheaply.
With its 6-axis stabilization system, it is easy for beginners to fly this drone. Syma X5C is completely self-balancing. Thus, you can also fly indoors without crashing or damaging the quadcopter.
- HD camera
- Very affordable purchase price.
- Good for flying in your own living room.
Our tip: We included this drone because it is very cheap and easy to fly. So it’s perfect for beginners!
Drone Parrot Mambo
The Parrot Mambo is a particularly good entry-level drone, it has some fun features like grips and a cannon. Unfortunately, this drone doesn’t have a good camera with which to take bird’s-eye shots. Unfortunately, videos cannot be filmed with the Parrot Mambo.
However, it is ideal for beginners. We deliberately smashed the Mambo several times during our test and it never broke due to the very high quality of the material.
With the multi-axis stabilization system and ultrasonic sensor under the Mambo, flying becomes child’s play. It perfectly balances movement and light wind.
You can buy a drone for just under € 100 and get a small, high quality aircraft from the French manufacturer Parrot.
- Gripping hands
- A cannon that can be used to shoot soft balls
- Very reliable, crashes not a problem!
Our tip: perfect for indoor activities!
Parrot in the air at night
The Parrot Airborne Night is very similar to the Parrot Mambo. It has the same flight characteristics, but the purchase price is slightly lower than the Mambo.
Both entry-level drones differ only in their features. The Parrot Airborne Night does not have a cannon and grips, but has 2 brightly lit LEDs. So you can fly in the dark with the Parrot Airborne Night.
Both the Parrot Airborne Night drone and the Parrot Mambo drone have a flight time of about 7-9 minutes per battery charge, can charge quickly and are very reliable.
- LED headlights
- Programmed tricks
- Particularly durable and resistant
Our tip: Airborne Night is perfect for you if you want to train at night within your four walls.
Parrot bebop 2
As for the Parrot Bebop 2, you need to do a little digging in your pocket as it is available from about 500 euros, but it is extremely safe, control-sensitive and has a good camera.
This drone is extremely safe to fly, has a very sophisticated stabilization system and a 14MP camera. Thanks to its wide range of functions, it is also very suitable for experienced pilots.
Beginners should be careful not to fly too far with the Parrot Bebop 2. Since it has a range of up to 2 kilometers and FPV goggles, if you have a Skycontroller 2, you tend to quickly underestimate distances. in the USA, the drone regulation states that the drone is always within sight! There must always be a second person on FPV flights!
- Exciting flying with FPV goggles
- 60 km / h maximum speed
- 14 megapixel camera
- Fisheye lens
- Range 2000 meters with Skycontroller 2
- Pre-programmed tricks and extensive application
Our tip: For drone pilots who want to experience the most realistic FPV experience at the best value for money.
