The drone looks extremely modern, but let’s take a closer look at what a modern drone with a camera has.
The high-tech company GDU specializes in the development and then production of exceptionally high-quality modern drones. The quality is not bad, you can compare this brand with DJI. In our opinion, GDU is by no means a competitor to market leader DJI. The GDU cannot contain it.
One of the best drones from the manufacturer is the GDU-O2 drone, which folds up, has a 4K camera and records breathtaking images with a very deep depth of field. The field of view here is about 79.8 degrees, mainly because this is indeed a very small pendant camera.
In addition, the drone has visual positioning and obstacle avoidance. This gives you maximum safety while flying. Upon landing, the GDU-O2 drone can recognize obstacles and objects below and successfully avoid them.
Obstacle Avoidance System is also partially available on DJI drones and is therefore not new to the market. Interestingly, though, other drone manufacturers are following suit. The aircraft can dodge in all directions, if there is a risk of collision, the aircraft will automatically hover even if you take your fingers off the stick.
However, objects must have a solid structure and must be sufficiently lit for the visual positioning system to identify them. Forward-facing sensors range from 0.6 to 1.5 meters and 0.3 to 1.3 meters down.
By itself, this model also flies quite stably, otherwise this is provided not only by the visual positioning system, but also by ultrasonic sensors. However, the GPS signal has the greatest impact on flight stability, which determines very accurate course corrections and thus holds the drone in place. Even if this system fails due to too weak GPS signal, the drone uses alternative systems.
Size, design and weight
The GDU-O2 drone folds quickly and easily. We have already tested quite a few drones and in some cases they are exact replicas and copies of the DJI Mavic. This seems to be the case here, because the GDU-O2 drone is designed in the same way.
However, this is not a 1 to 1 copy, which would also be illegal.
The wings of the GDU O2 are foldable and the propellers are disassembled in no time.
Overall, this drone looks a little more angular than the DJI Mavic or DJI Mavic 2. Transport is very convenient thanks to its foldable design.
When unfolded, the drone measures 185.5mm x 52mm x 93mm and weighs approximately 708 grams with battery.
Camera, memory and FPV live image transmission
The camera is also really amazing and is the centerpiece of the drone from which you can measure quality. It houses a 1/3-inch CMOS sensor with 13 million pixels, which has an equivalent focal length of 25.5 mm F2.2.
Here the maximum photo resolution is 4208 x 3120 pixels. The electronic shutter speed is automatically adjusted and the maximum video resolution is 4K. In the menu, you can choose one of the following resolution formats:
- 4K: 3840 x 2160 @ 25 or 30 fps
- 1080P: 1920 x 1080 @ 60 or 30fps
- 720P: 1280 x 720 @ 60 or 30fps
Photos are usually saved in JPG format and videos in MP4.
With video recording, you will not have jitters as the GDU O2 has a three-axis mechanical suspension system. It is lightweight, compact and very responsive to changes in position in flight.
Battery, range and flight time
The built-in flight battery is powerful enough – 4000 mAh. This provides a maximum flight time of up to 20 minutes. But you can also just buy some spare batteries to fly longer. The fact is that flight batteries are easily removed and quickly changed.
The batteries in the transmitter are also quite powerful – 1200 mAh. Here is a range of up to 1 kilometer. HD video transmission is also at that distance thanks to the built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.
How well does the GDU-O2 drone actually fly?
Thanks to the dual GPS system, i.e. GPS and GLONASS, O2 can communicate with up to 20 satellites and thus guarantee an absolutely stable flight position.
This quadcopter not only flies very stable, but also has an amazing speed, which is 54 kilometers per hour.
But you have to be careful not to fly too close by people.
In our opinion, the GDU-O2 is very suitable for both beginners and advanced users.

Newbies are advised to use this drone as they are safe thanks to the visual positioning system, GPS / GLONASS and extensive sensors.
