Quite unusual and damn small mini drone – Goolsky MJX X-Series X902, which impresses with its compact, lightweight and elegant design. It is actually quite small, but has the typical functions of a toy drone and is especially suitable for beginners.
You can take it with you wherever you go, because it is only 9.5cm high, 9.5cm wide and about 3cm high. It’s not much larger than the palm of your hand, and the Goolsky X902 quadcopter weighs only 19g.
Flight characteristics, battery life and other technical specifications
You can keep a small mini drone in the air for about 5-6 minutes on a single battery charge. It takes about 60 minutes to charge the flight battery. But this is not a problem, because you can simply replace the battery and the additional flight battery only costs around 2-3 euros.
They usually have a charging capacity of around 180mAh at 3.7 volts. This is a lipo battery. A suitable USB charging cable is included in the package. Many buyers report that flight times decrease significantly as the number of battery charges increases. Some people notice this after 15 charges. We’ll take a closer look at this in our long term test. In any case, we recommend that you buy several flight batteries to extend the flight time of the drone.
It has small headlights that look like small aggressive eyes. The advantage of the lighting system is that you can also fly at dusk or in dark rooms. In general, the design looks very unusual. The propellers point downwards, which is of course better in terms of safety and makes the Goolsky stand out a bit compared to other models.
The flight behavior is, as we would say, “typical” for a mini-drone. It is quite responsive to control commands, so there are 2 different modes: one for beginners and one for advanced users. When starting up, we recommend making sure you don’t move the control stick too far forward, as the powerful brushless motors will catapult light weight to the ceiling very quickly. The fun factor is definitely there, but it takes a little practice to fly the little drone very well.
If you remove all fingers from the control box, the small mini quadcopter will automatically enter hover mode. A 6-axis gyroscope is responsible for this. This sensor unit constantly balances a small, remote controlled flying object, so the Goolsky MJX X-Series X902 is very beginner friendly.
One interesting feature is the trick function. This ensures that the Goolsky plays its part at the touch of a button, without the need to acquire special flying skills. If you flip the drone, it will go into hover mode by itself.

Pros and cons
The low cost of the MJX X 902 RC drone was especially noted. I’m sure you’re wondering where the catch is, we thought so. After all, quadcopters have to be built somewhere, and ultimately all the companies involved want to make a profit. In our tests, we also compared the more expensive models from the mini-drone sector. We took these values to better weigh the advantages and disadvantages. Below is a quick overview:
- Very small and compact
- Especially advantageous price offer
- Cool design in lightweight packaging
- Good for beginners to get their first flight experience.
- Falling is not a problem because the small drone is very gentle
- Battery replaceable
- Spectacular trick function
- Insufficient number of charge cycles
- Short flight time (battery lasts about 5-6 minutes)
- The mini drone does not have a camera for taking photos or videos.
- Not suitable for professionals and power users
Conclusion on the MJX X-Series X902 mini drone
We can only recommend the above drone model if you really want to buy it very cheaply. There are some points of criticism that can be very annoying at some point. For example, relatively long charging times, short flight times, and a decrease in payload with increasing charge cycles. It’s also lightweight. Thus, you can only fly it when there is no wind or in your apartment. With a strong gust of wind, there is a high probability that the mini-drone will be greatly carried away or even crash.
However, you get a lot of deals for very little money, and the MJX X-Series X902 mini drone is definitely suitable for beginners. But then you will want to quickly switch to a larger model.
We can recommend this quadcopter to beginners on a budget. You can order it here on Amazon *.
What are the alternatives?
Anyone who has followed our blog posts or our YouTube channel for a long time will notice that we have already tested several mini and toy drones. Among others were the Parrot Mambo and Parrot Airborne, which were completely convincing in the test.
Taking a closer look at the MJX X-Series X902 mini drone, we noticed a few negative points that did not appear in other quadcopters of this size. In practice, the flight times of small Parrot drones are approximately 2-3 minutes longer and the battery life is much longer. They also have cameras attached to them that you can use to take cool bird’s-eye photos.
For the Parrot Mambo and Airborne, however, you’ll have to dig a little deeper in your pocket. Both models cost around 70-100 euros each.
Ryze Tello can be priced in the same price range, but with significantly higher quality. The quadcopter even has a cool camera and extremely reliable flight behavior, but it is slightly larger than the MJX X-Series X902 drone. It also has a significantly longer range of around 100 meters. The battery lasts 12 minutes and this model is definitely a pleasure!
If you’re in the mood for a larger but affordable flight model for inexperienced drone pilots, you might want to take a closer look at this Hubsan drone. In our test, it also proved to be convincing in every way and showed that it was definitely worth the price.
