The Ionlyou DW1 Mini drone can be purchased for less than € 20. A small toy for both kids and adults. We took a close look at the small quadcopter and checked how good it is.

Specifications

The drone is really tiny in dimensions, its length and width is 10 cm, and its height is 2.5 cm. Besides, it weighs only 31.8 g. The aircraft is equipped with 4-axis radio technology, which ensures the stability of the quadcopter in the air. Therefore, it is also ideal for beginners. The speed is divided into 2 levels, if you still have little experience in flying, we recommend that you start with the first speed level and then gradually get used to the fast level over a large area.

Flying a toy drone is not a problem in small spaces because it has anti-collision protection, so-called rotor guard frames protect the rotors from colliding with other objects. This protection is very unusual, it is made with a ring and is attached to the body of the flying object with struts leading inward. Experience has shown that small drones can handle much more, so an accident is by no means a death sentence for small drones, so mini drones are ideal for beginner drones.

The maximum flight time is about 8 minutes, but with a very fast flying style it may end in 5 or 6 minutes. The drone is charged via a power bank or PC. An appropriate USB cable is included in the package. It takes about 30 minutes to fully charge the flight battery.

Remote control, operation and flight performance

The remote control may seem a little small to an experienced drone pilot, but it is quite light and, despite its small size, fits very comfortably in the hand. Even beginners can move a small quadcopter through the air quickly and effectively. In addition to 2 different speed levels, various 3D tricks are pre-programmed.

Due to its small size and weight, the drone is very maneuverable and maneuverable. In the beginning you have to make sure not to push the control stick all the way forward or the mini drone will hit you against the ceiling because it will take off so quickly.

If you move the left control lever forward a little, it will rise smoothly, if you slide it to the left, it rotates around its axis. The right stick is used to move in a plane, that is, forward, backward and sideways, right and left, according to the position of the right stick. The drone performs the joystick movements immediately, without much delay. You will still need 2 AAA batteries to use the remote.

Outside, you can tell that it is very sensitive to wind, so we recommend flying the drone inside, otherwise the flight will be limited as the mini drone drifts or crashes on the slightest gust of wind. But indoor is a lot of fun and you can expand your drone skills.

It withstands shock very well and also withstands serious falls because it is so light, small and well protected by the rotor guard. If your hands are sweaty, dry them beforehand, otherwise the remote control may slip out of your hand.

Completeness – what’s inside?

This is an RTF drone. What does it mean? Who is the Ionlyou DW1 Mini drone suitable for?

Due to the size and appearance of the toy, you might think that a mini quadcopter would be suitable for small children too. This is not true! A small drone is only 14 years old and should be kept out of the reach of small children, as the rotors can damage the little fingers.

From customer reports and our own assessment, the Ionlyou DW1 Mini drone is definitely not suitable for experienced pilots. Especially if you already have experience with larger, better quality drones, you probably won’t get as much fun out of the RC plane.

However, beginners who have not yet acquired a lot of drone skills will have a lot of fun and will be able to gradually expand their flying skills without investing a huge budget.

Conclusion

We can recommend the Ionlyou DW1 Mini drone to anyone who has no experience in flying a quadcopter. However, since it does not have a camera, you cannot enjoy taking photos and videos.

So if you are interested in something more, we recommend models from DJI, Hubsan and Parrot. The drones from these manufacturers fully convinced us in our tests, and we will buy them again at any time.
