Test report is a small overview of the mini drone.

Airbone Night is a small toy drone from French manufacturer Parrot.

Thanks to the built-in bright LEDs, it can also be used at dusk.
perform beautiful flights.

Parrot Airborne Night advantages and disadvantages

First of all, a quick overview of the advantages and disadvantages. Note: This is a mini drone.

privileges

  • Reacts very well to control commands
  • Bright LED lights

disadvantage

  • Poor camera quality
  • Controlled only from a smartphone

Parrot Airborne Night: Review Review

The Parrot Airborne Night is currently available in 3 different versions. However, they
differ only in color.

Currently available:

  • Parrot in the air
  • Parrot Airborne Night Swat
  • Parrot In The Air Night McLain

We tested Maclane, but there is no technical difference between the 3 options!

scope of delivery

Parrot Airborne includes:

  • Mini drone
  • USB cable with micro USB connector
  • Accumulator battery
  • quick guide
  • Stickers and decals

Unfortunately, the kit does not include an additional set of propellers. The corresponding parts can be ordered very cheaply from the manufacturer or on Amazon.

Battery and flight time

The Parrot Airborne battery has a 550mAh charge and provides about 7-9 minutes of flight time when fully charged.

A distinction should be made whether you are flying with or without a bumper. They serve to protect the propellers and, of course, carry some weight with them, so the drone can fly for only 7 minutes instead of 9 minutes.

The advantage is fast charging: you only need 25 minutes to fully charge the battery and get the Parrot Airborne ready for use again.

Quality and craftsmanship

The digital experience a mini drone creates during online exploration is far superior to reality.

The selected plastic material for the props, propeller and propeller protectors is very flexible and makes a rather noble impression.

Features of Parrot Airborne Night

The Parrot Airborne Night drone features two LEDs that, to our surprise, glow quite brightly.

The Parrot Mini app you use to control your Airborne Night can be used to turn the LEDs on and off and adjust the brightness. This allows you to illuminate the area in front of the drone.

There is a very small camera on the underside of the mini drone, you need to look closely to see it.

With this camera, you can use the app to take bird’s eye photos.

However, due to the fact that the camera is so small, the image quality is poor.

Photos were taken in VGA resolution.

Don’t forget that this is a mini drone ;-).

Parrot Airborne Night flight behavior

To our surprise, the Parrot Airborne Night is indeed very stable in the air.

The reason for this is the sound sensor, which is mounted directly in front of the camera from the bottom side. This sends sound waves down in the high frequency range.

In addition, the 54g drone is equipped with a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis acceleration sensor.

This means that the drone knows how high it is, what movements are occurring at the moment, how fast it is, and then constantly stabilizes.

For example, if you jerk the drone forward, backward, right or left, if you stop abruptly, it will immediately counter it and slow Airborne Night down.

For beginners, automatic air stabilization is very useful. In addition, the mini drone is much easier to control and fly indoors.

Parrot Airborne Night comes into service

Before you can fly the drone, you must first charge it. Just place the small battery in the small box at the back of the drone. Make sure the label is facing down for the contacts to grip.

Then just plug in the Airborne Night with a USB cable and charge it on your PC, laptop or charger.

Connect your Parrot Airborne to the app and take off

Download FreeFlight Mini.

Turn on the mini drone and wait until the small LEDs turn green.

Then you need to turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone and open the app. Now the app searches for a mini drone and connects to it.

You can now launch the drone through the TakeOff touch field, or use the app to indicate that it should launch the rotors when it is thrown into the air, and then automatically stay in the air.

The pre-programmed tricks you can perform with the mini drone are pretty fun. Just select the box in the upper right corner, and then you can decide if the drone should flip forward, backward, or sideways.

Then you do it by double clicking on the control panel.

Then the drone takes off a little, performs somersaults and stabilizes in the air. You don’t need to do anything for this. Very cool ;-).

Parrot Airborne conclusion

The Parrot Airborne is a real fun drone, a lot of fun to fly with and crashes are not a problem at all.

Once we opened the window at full capacity and nothing broke. So it is very gentle, so perfect for beginners.

Parrot has really used very high quality material for this drone, which is why it is so stable.

We usually give the drone a full rating, but the fact that this is not a real controller worries us.

Of course, this is a high-level dissatisfaction, because the Parrot Airborne can be controlled very reliably via smartphone and app.

The type of control becomes a disadvantage if you have sweaty hands and slide across the display. However, then the mini-drone is balanced.

If you are having trouble controlling via a smartphone, you can also buy the corresponding FlyPad here on Amazon.

Otherwise, nothing to complain about, because the Parrot Airborne cannot be more stable in the air.

The controls and how the small drone responds to control commands also seems very complex. Hence the clear purchase recommendation from us!
