If you’re looking to get your kids excited about quadcopters and are still looking for a suitable entry-level drone, the Sanrock mini drone is the model you should get to know.
The drone has many important safety features, flies stably in the air and at the same time remains quite fast, agile and maneuverable.
While the Sanrock makes slightly louder noise levels than other mini drones because the engines are relatively different, it is otherwise technically very well equipped. For comparison, their price is also a real joke!
Size, design and weight
This is a really small model, dimensions: 8.9 cm x 7.9 cm x 3.2 cm. It looks a little unsportsmanlike and heavy, but it is not at all so.
Their design ensures safety and long service life. The material is of very high quality, the rotors are quite hidden and therefore well protected. For children, this means less risk of injury on a small quadcopter.
Should a small object ever fall into the rotor cylinder, the rotor blades are strong enough to give in easily and will not break immediately. Collisions with objects such as walls or household items do not cause damage thanks to the professionally installed rotor guards.
An LED flashlight is installed above the fuselage, so you can fly the mini-drone in the dark.
Sanrock is available in different colors, we saw it in black / blue and black / red.
Camera, memory and FPV live image transmission
Unfortunately there is no FPV mode in this drone model, although we would love it, it also lacks a camera, which is to be expected in this price segment (30-50 €).
Either the drones that sell so cheap have a terrible camera, or they don’t, so our disappointment wasn’t too big.
Battery, range and flight time
There are several buttons on the remote for different flight modes, which we will discuss briefly later. It has a transmit power with a maximum range of about 50 meters, but this depends on the charge level of the transmitter and the presence of any objects between the Sanrock and the remote control.
Since the drone is so cheap, a 7 minute flight is fine and fine. Charging times are also limited compared to other models in this price range, ranging from 45 to 60 minutes.
The battery is replaceable so you can extend the flight time as you like and even fly for over half an hour with 4 extra batteries. Additional flight batteries are not expensive and only cost a few euros.
Below is a fuse for the battery to keep it from flying out.
Thanks to the altitude barometer and gyroscope system, the quadcopter flies fully automatically and stably in the air, even if you release the controls.
This is ideal for beginners as it allows you to slowly get comfortable with the safe feeling of flying.
Headless mode and the ability to fly the drone in free mode are really good in this model.
If the drone is in the latter mode, the auxiliary systems are completely disabled.
Headless means “headless”, which means you can fly the drone no matter where you look.
Assuming the copter is facing you and you push the control stick forward, the model will fly towards you. In headless mode, things are different, here the drone flies away no matter how the head or the front is aligned.
In addition, the Sanrock can be launched and landed at the touch of a button. These processes do not require complex maneuvers, the drone does everything by itself.
Another feature is “One Key Return”, which automatically returns the model to you.
