The Yuneec Breeze is definitely a compact drone that is a lot of fun. While it cannot be compared to DJI drones like the DJI Phantom 3 Professional, it is ideal for short snapshots and video recordings such as on a beach vacation.
With several interesting flight modes, the Breeze 4K fulfills its task as a selfie drone.
You can get them for less than € 500, so we really wanted to take a closer look at them. The compact shape makes the Yuneec Breeze quick and easy to pack into a backpack and easy to take with you wherever you go.
The Yuneec Breeze 4K drone has Ultra HD resolution and takes great photos. There are not many drones in this price segment with such a good camera, multiple flight modes and excellent stable flight performance.
The small quadcopter can be easily controlled using a smartphone and app. So you don’t have to carry a heavy remote control with you!
Due to its numerous characteristics, this drone should establish itself against the background of more expensive models. For example, not all flight modes can match the quality of many more expensive DJI models in terms of functionality, but that goes without saying.
We find being able to fly this drone with FPV goggles very exciting. This gives a much more realistic flying experience. But before we dive into the details, below is an overview of the most important technical details.
Yuneec Breeze Technical Datasheet
The compact quadcopter has a 13-megapixel camera that captures videos at 3840 x 2160 pixels and photos at 4160 x 3120 pixels. The camera can be rotated vertically and is equipped with the high-end Ambarella chipset.
This chipset provides a stable image, since the drone does not have a mechanical gimbal, the real-time image is electronically stabilized. Thus, the software stabilizer ensures smooth and calm video recording by balancing the smallest image movements due to flight maneuvers or gusts of wind.
During the flight, a 720p live image is transmitted to the smartphone. Management via the app is quite simple, self-explanatory and compatible with common Android and IOS operating systems.
At 720p, the frame rate is 60 frames per second. Thus, you have the opportunity to create beautiful slow motion shots.
With built-in GPS and IPS sensors, the drone is very stable in the air and automatically compensates for even the slightest deviation in flight. As such, the Yuneec Breeze is ideal for beginner and beginner drones.
Various practical flight modes can also be activated and controlled via the app. They will help you make videos even better and better.
To do this, you can use the following functions:
- Pilot mode
- Selfie mode
- Follow Me Mode
- Orbital mode
- Travel Mode
- Return to home mode

- LiPo 3S 1150mAh battery
- USB cable
- Replacing the rotor blades
- Rotor protection (bumper)
- Pet box
The USB cable is used to transfer video and image data to your computer. What we really welcome is the rotor protection (bumper), which makes flying the Yuneec Breeze even safer and more comfortable. Moreover, it is often not so easy for a newcomer to a drone to keep a drone in the air within its own 4 walls, not knowing where to fly.
The bumpers and stable construction ensure that this drone is gentle enough, even in the event of an accident.
Test overview, advantages and disadvantages
Elegant flight behavior, high quality camera and compact design are especially attractive when combined with a low price. But you have to weigh carefully whether the drone is suitable for your applications, so first of all you need to get a rough overview of the advantages and disadvantages.
- Low price for great quality and many features. The Yuneec Breeze quadcopter is available for less than € 500, but it has many features that are almost only available on significantly more expensive drones. A real deal!
- High quality photos and videos. The photos you take are of high quality, resolution and color depth.
- Compact size. Since the quadcopter is relatively small and only 24 cm in diameter, it fits into any backpack.
- Extensive flight and camera modes. Flight Modes can be used to create even smoother, better flight recordings.
- Remote control is not included as standard. The drone is controlled via a smartphone using the touch fields of the application. We think this somewhat reduces the feeling of flying. Therefore, we recommend that you buy an FPV kit because in addition to the FPV goggles, the package also includes a reliable remote control.
Yuneec Breeze control and flight behavior
In our opinion, Yuneec Breeze is perfect for beginners. You can hardly go wrong.
Using the touch field, the quadcopter can be easily and comfortably controlled. The left touch field is used to mount and remove the drone, as well as to move it around its own vertical axis.
If you are using the right touch field, the drone simply moves forward, backward, right or left. If you lose contact with the sensory field, the Yuneec Breeze will automatically brake.
If you also lose the signal, it will automatically return to you at the starting point.
What worries us a little is that this drone only has a top speed of about 18 kilometers per hour. However, for beginners, this is the right speed!
Drone Yuneec Breeze 4K with FPV goggles
The Yuneec Breeze can be flown with FPV goggles. This allows you to enter the flight in real time from the perspective of the drone camera.
The FPV kit includes a controller and FPV goggles. All you have to do is launch the app, connect it to the controller and insert your smartphone into the connector provided in the glasses.
In addition, the smartphone can be attached to the remote controller using the supplied bracket and enjoy FPV entertainment even without FPV goggles.
Safety is very important
Despite the inexpensive offer, with this drone Yuneec saved everything but safety. As mentioned, the drone stands nailed in the air and can be flown very safely indoors. Among other things, this is ensured by an internal positioning system consisting of ultrasonic sensors.
Without the need for a stick, the drone fully automatically maintains its current altitude and position. After sharp maneuvers on acceleration, the Yuneec Breeze brakes completely independently again. The same as if the connection with the smartphone or remote control is lost.
The app warns the drone pilot if the battery level gets too low. If the battery charge is less than 5%, the drone will land automatically to avoid the risk of an accident.
Yuneec Breeze Flight Modes
Not only does the Yuneec Breeze produce breathtaking Ultra-HD footage. It also offers you extensive flight modes that you can set and activate through the app.
Below we will show you the 5 most important flight modes.
If you are in selfie mode, you can quickly and easily take pictures of yourself and your loved ones. Just set a few small settings in the app, such as height and distance, and take a photo.
In orbit mode, the drone circles around you or a desired object. All you have to do is set the radius and the appropriate height and you are ready to go. Even experienced drone pilots cannot make such precise circular movements as a drone flies in orbit.
Follow Me Mode
In Follow Me mode, Yuneec Breeze followed you at a specified distance. The drone depends on the position of your smartphone in your hand. With the Follow Me function, you can take great pictures during your various leisure activities.
Travel flight mode
In Travel mode, the drone flies away from you, constantly tracking you, and then comes back. How useful this flight mode is is questionable because you can easily complete this flight maneuver yourself.
Pilot flight mode
Pilot Mode is a normal flight mode in which the Yuneec Breeze is fully controlled by the pilot.
It is controlled either via a smartphone and control knobs visible on the screen, or via the remote controller included with the FPV kit (not included in the general kit).
Conclusion on the Yuneec Breeze 4K drone
The small selfie drone is ready to go very quickly. In just a few seconds, the drone is ready to go and you can spontaneously take pictures of yourself and your friends.
What we complain about is that this plane only has 16GB of internal memory, and there was no SD card slot built in that could be used to expand storage. Video and photo recordings can only be transferred to a PC via a USB cable. The internal memory must be cleaned regularly due to its small size.
The rest of the Yuneec Breeze doesn’t care much, perhaps it could fly a little faster. Also, it is only available in white, but if you like more color, you can stick it on.
You get a really valuable, powerful quadcopter for relatively little money. Yuneec Breeze now only costs about 430 euros. In return, you get a lot of technology, security measures, you can produce high quality recordings and have tons of fun.
