A lesser known drone manufacturer in the world is Zerotech. The Chinese brand is famous for its selfie drones. Several years ago, Zerotech ventured into the development of larger drones.
New is Zerotech Hesper, which is quite suitable for creating high-quality landscape images.
We will introduce you to this model in more detail in this article, and later on the advantages and disadvantages, as well as other related factors that you should definitely consider when buying.
You can get Zerotech Hesper for around 500 €. It is very suitable for capturing beautiful landscapes, offers a fairly large range as well as long flight times.
We noticed that the design is very similar to the DJI Mavic. This is the case with many of the models we know. It is slightly smaller in size.
There is also an app that you can download from the app store. You can access the app via QR code or search for an English-language app in the store by requesting “FlightGo”.
If you’ve installed this and quickly created an account, there is a live playback option. This means that you can see in real time what the camera sees around you.
Design, size and more
We think the design and appearance are pretty good on their own. The folded dimensions are 14.5 cm x 7.5 cm x 4.9 cm, which is very small. This means the drone will fit even in a large trouser pocket.
As mentioned, it is very similar to the DJI Mavic, but smaller and by no means an exact copy. The features are very different from the Mavic and cannot be compared to this.
In terms of color, we are dealing with a rather dark format. Anthracite is in the foreground here and also looks really high quality. You can turn on the drone above the flight battery, there is an “ON” button.
The battery can be easily replaced by inserting it from the back, reattaching it or removing it again. A total of 4 LEDs indicate the current state of the remaining battery charge.
Battery, range, flight time
And now we are moving on to the next topic: what about flight time?
Not bad, actually, you have 15 minutes for one battery charge. The battery is discharged. The package includes 2 battery packs, so you can simply land and replace the flight battery.
Note: A second battery is only available if you choose a larger package in the store and also order the remote. Thanks to this, you can reach a range of up to 800 meters.
If you opt for a kit with a remote controller and a second flight battery, you get a remote controller very similar to the DJI remote control.
Here, your smartphone serves as a display that you can easily use by expanding the remote control.
The spark design looks quality, just like the DJI remote.
The rods (magnets) can also be removed here, and the two elements of the remote control can be squeezed together so that it can be very conveniently stored, for example in a pants pocket or a small bag, which is really very convenient.
Camera, resolution and recording quality
Built-in camera – SONY IMX 214, auto exposure, 4208 x 3120, that is, 13 megapixels, and video recording function at 30 frames per second at 1080P resolution.
Unfortunately, there is no option to record videos in 4K quality – we think that’s a little offensive for the price.
Images and videos are saved in JPEG, DNG, MP4 / MOV formats on an internal EMMC image plate with a total size of about 16GB.
What’s really cool about Hesper is the various features such as launch, landing, return, and the ability to electronically stabilize images.
How stable is the drone?
Hesper uses an optical and acoustic positioning system (visual + ultrasonic) for stabilization. The rest of the drone works with GPS and GLONASS.
This way, you can also keep your fingers away from the remote controller and the aircraft will automatically stay in the air. Newbies should have no problem with this.
In addition, the drone has a target tracking system, you just need to focus the target and Hesper will track it.
Pros and cons
- Great for beginners – flies safely and stably
- Complex sensors
- Many interesting features and capabilities
- Intelligent 1950mAh battery system, flight time up to 15 minutes
- Range 800 meters
- The drone can be folded up and taken with you wherever you go
- Not a real multi-axis harness
- Unable to create 4K movies
In our opinion, the Zerotech Hesper is well suited for beginners who don’t have that much drone experience yet, but professionals will be offended by the fact that this model does not have a gimbal and 4K video recording capabilities.
You only have a single-axle gimbal suspension, which is unfortunately not enough for extensive balancing of flight movements, so the drone’s movements will be recognized on video footage.
But the manufacturer figured out that not all vibrations and other things negatively affect the image. It uses an electronic image stabilization system.
In general, we can recommend Hesper to everyone, but before buying, you should make sure that the mentioned disadvantages are not exclusion criteria for you. If this is not the case, then nothing will interfere with you and your purchase if you have the necessary budget. The price is ok, but for a Chinese product it may be a little cheaper. However, the quality of the drone is convincingly high!
