In this test I will show you the SG 907 from GoolRC racing carts manufacturer. GoolRC is a Chinese manufacturer that is still new to the drone business. The manufacturer is known for its racing carriage accessories such as remote controls or motors.
The SG907 is a very cheap drone to look out for especially for newbies, and it also does a good job in terms of price, especially since it’s on sale now. You can find out what the drone does for its price in the GoolRC SG907 drone review.
Scope of delivery and technical data
Technically, here the manufacturer promises a lot for little money. Among other things, the drone has a GPS module, a front Full HD and a floor-standing camera (720p). The front camera also has 4K photo shooting function.
Unfortunately, the camera is limited to Full HD video at 25 frames per second. In addition, the camera does not support image stabilization. Therefore, all recordings made with this camera will be blurred. It’s a shame, especially with the video.
Here are the main technical specifications of this drone:
- Front camera: Full HD video at 25 frames per second, 4K photo
- 120 ° wide-angle shots, front only
- Outdoor camera: 720p video and photo
- The camera moves and tilts electrically 90 ° – no gimbal!
- GPS and GLONASS on board
- Gesture control
- maximum range: 300 meters
- Folding design
- intelligent flight modes: Follow-Me-Mode, Way Point Flight, Orbit
- 7.4V / 1600mA battery
- 18 minutes flight / 4 hours charging
- Brush motor
- Folded dimensions: 15 x 9 x 7.5 cm (WxDxH)
- Dimensions are normal: 36 × 32 × 7.5 cm (WxDxH)
- 230 grams weight
- Application – HFun Plus (iOS and Android)
As you can see, with this model you get a lot of features for little money. The battery is replaceable, so the flight time can be extended by any number of batteries. One of the 1600 mAh batteries costs 15 euros from the manufacturer.
scope of delivery
The scope of delivery is a bit economical. In fact, we are missing two important things. Namely SD card and spare battery.
Since the battery capacity is only 1600 mAh, it can be assumed that the flight time will be limited to 15 minutes, especially in unfavorable weather and low temperatures. A second battery would be very nice.
Actual scope of delivery includes RC drone with manual control. Unfortunately, the manual is only available in English. Also included is a USB charging cable, a spare propeller, three AAA batteries for the remote control, and a screwdriver to mount the propellers. However, there is also a bag from the manufacturer, which can be purchased separately. It will look like this:
Photo and video quality of the SG 907 drone
The recording quality is good. The front camera records Full HD video and 4K quality photos.
What we really liked was the ability to adjust the camera during flight and change the angle. The disadvantages of the camera are obvious. Image quality deteriorates rapidly in low light conditions. This is due to the small camera sensor because there is too little light.
However, every camera in this price range must grapple with this problem, and the LED lighting on the nose of the drone cannot compensate for it.
Overall, the camera quality is a bit poor. Photo quality is good with 4K resolution. Only videos suffer greatly from the lack of image stabilization. For over € 100, at least electronic image stabilization would be great.
However, we were impressed by the idea of a dual camera. The second camera can be used very well for orientation or for taking photos from a cool point of view.
However, footage from the floor camera looks very bad. This, in turn, is due to the lack of image stabilization, low light fall and a resolution of 1280×720.
Flight behavior and control
After unpacking and installing the drone, I launch the device for the first time.It took me about 2 hours to fully charge the battery. The charging process can take up to four hours depending on the available voltage and current.
The SG 907 drone has proven itself in practical tests for handling and flight performance. Takeoff and landing work in the same way as air navigation.
By the way, the manufacturer claims that this model can be used only in good weather. Therefore, the drone cannot be flown in rain or snow, as this model does not have IPX water protection.
Since the GoolRC SG907 drone has a GPS / GLONASS module on board, it can also fly safely in the wind, because this model balances in the air using GPS and thus stays calmly in place in the air.
In addition, the GoolRC drone offers various intelligent flight modes, namely orbit mode, follow me mode and waypoint flight. it is unclean. However, if we bear in mind the price of this model. More expensive drones such as the DJI Mavic Mini operate much cleaner in orbit mode.
Control works through remote control, APP and gesture control. The front camera is responsible for image recognition in gesture control. Unfortunately, the floor-standing camera does not record gestures.
Conclusion and drone SG 907 compared to other models
With this comparison, I would like to conclude the test report. As you can clearly see what is available on GoolRC for little money.
Here’s an overview of the drones against which GoolRC’s SG 907 can be compared:
Sensors | GPS / GLONASS | GPS, optical flow | no | GPS. Optical flow |
camera | 1920 × 1080 / 25p video 4K photo, 120 ° wide angle no image stabilization |
2048 × 1152 / 20p video and photo, 110 ° wide angle, single axis stabilizer low gimbal image stabilization |
